The Post-Graduate Program in Museology and Heritage is an academic program with a theoretical orientation, aimed at training university level researchers and teaching staff, in the field of Museology and Heritage Studies.

Created in 2006, with the Master’s Course in Museology and Heritage, it was developed in a partnership between Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (MAST/MCTI). It received support from important museums and centers of study and defense of heritage, in Brazil and abroad.

The master’s and doctoral courses are offered on-site, with academic activities concentrated in UNIRIO and MAST. Theoretical and practical classes can be held in institutions which collaborate with PPG-PMUS, such as the National Fine Arts Museum, the National History Museum, the Earth Sciences Museum, the General Archive of Rio de Janeiro City, and the Imperial Museum.
